How are token costs estimated?
Agents resend their system prompt, your prompt, the files they read, and the conversation history on every turn. The builder multiplies that context by the typical number of turns for the task stage, applies prompt-cache pricing where the agent supports it, and uses each model's list price per million tokens. You can edit prices and assumptions.
How can I cut AI coding agent costs?
Use a faster model for routine stages, point the agent at specific files instead of whole folders, plan first so the agent needs fewer turns, move durable rules into a cached rule file, and turn on Cost saver to strip filler words.
